What is Brave browser?
Simply put, Brave is a free-to-use open-source web browser that is developed by Brave Software, Inc. The browser is based on Chromium, a regularly updated and free open-source browser project backed by Google. Other popular browsers that are based on Chromium include Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Opera. This means that the user experience of Brave will be very familiar to you if you are using one of these browsers already.
But unlike the other browsers, Brave has various distinguished features for users, the main ones being:
1. Users are not being tracked without their consent, providing you with more privacy online.
2. The browser removes trackers and ads that slow down page loading times, allowing faster browsing. Brave also consumes less battery than Chrome on mobile.
3. Users can earn crypto with Brave Browser when being served Brave native adverts.
4. Users can contribute to content sites as part of the Brave content creators network by giving ‘crypto tips’ to creators such as bloggers and YouTubers.

How much can I earn using Brave browser?
The Brave browser has its own crypto called the Basic Attention Token, also known as BAT.
The amount of BAT you can earn depends on your browser usage and the ad settings you chose. As the name of this altcoin (i.e. crypto other than Bitcoin) suggests, you get paid for your attention. What this means is that you get paid when being served ads on the browser. In fact, you’ll earn a proportion of the advertiser’s ad revenue directly in crypto.
For maximum earnings, you can max out the frequency of how many ads appear per hour. With this setting, I have earned 6.081 BAT in around six weeks of using Brave. At the time of writing this article (May 2021), 1 BAT is worth $1.47, meaning my earnings have been $9.15 so far. This might not sound like a lot but it’s purely passive income you can earn while doing things you’d normally do without getting paid!
And even more importantly, like with any other crypto, the value of BAT fluctuates based on the market price. As you can see in the CoinMarketCap graph below, the value of BAT has more than tripled within the past three months. You can use Brave browser’s built-in wallet to manage your earnings. This allows you to earn and contribute with BAT without signing up for anything. However, if you want to cash in your BAT, you’ll need to sign up for Uphold which is a digital currency broker. From Uphold, you can then exchange BAT for other cryptocurrencies (such as Bitcoin or Ethereum), or convert it into your local currency to be deposited into your bank account.

Earning crypto with Brave browser is very easy – just follow these five steps to get started:
1. Download and install Brave browser on your desktop or mobile device (or both for maximum earnings).
2. Open Brave browser and click on the BAT triangle logo at the top right corner of your screen.
3. Enable Brave Ads on the Rewards page.
4. Click on Ad Settings and choose the maximum number of ads you want to see per hour (choose 5 per hour for maximum earnings). You’ll also have a choice to disable all other online ads here if you wish.
5. You’re all set up! Now you’ll start receiving push notification ads. Unlike most ads online, these ads appear in the corner of your screen and are very non-disruptive.

For a fair comparison, I would have liked to mention even one drawback of using Brave browser in this article. But the truth is, after having used Brave for about six weeks, I simply haven’t come up with even one reason why you shouldn’t use it. So get started and earn some crypto!

I admit I thought this was a scam when I first saw it. But I guess the world is moving a lot faster than I am and I need to get with the program, right? Anyway … that being said … I still feel the need to know more about this unfamiliar company and why I should feel safer with Brave than with any other browser. Plus it seems that so many services are compatible only with Chrome these days. Are there really no drawbacks to Brave?

Personally I haven’t experienced any cons when using Brave – it basically works just like Chrome, you just get paid in crypto for using it and seeing the ads!
