Behind Money Marshmallow

My name is Roosa, and I’m the founder of Money Marshmallow. Despite having a money-saving mindset from a young age, I used to find finances boring! However, that all changed a few years ago when I started learning about investing and became fascinated by the idea of financial freedom and generating passive income. Who wouldn’t want to make money while sleeping?

Today, I have small property and investment portfolios that I’m working to expand, and I’m always exploring new ways to achieve financial freedom through creative income strategies. Beyond earning and managing money, delving into the psychology of money and consumer behaviour fascinates me. With my background in marketing and advertising, I love exploring the intricacies of why we make the financial and purchase decisions we do.

I believe that society often pushes us to follow the conventional path of building a career and working until retirement. While this can be a fulfilling route for some, many of us would choose a different path if we didn’t need to work for money. The good news is that there are numerous ways to make money work for you instead!

No matter what your financial goals are, big or small, I’m here to provide you with tools and information to help you make smart money moves that lead to more freedom. I aim to help you achieve the freedom to make your own life decisions without worrying about money.

Fun fact: The story behind the name

The Marshmallow Experiment, conducted at Stanford University in 1972, is a well-known social science study. It involved offering a child a marshmallow and informing them that they could have a second one if they could resist eating the first one while the adult left the room. According to the research, if a child can wait for the second marshmallow, it suggests that they prioritise delayed gratification over instant gratification, which is seen as a positive sign of future success.

Although the Marshmallow Experiment may not provide a foolproof indicator of success, it does impart a crucial lesson on how to achieve long-term success and wealth. Such goals are not achieved overnight, and it’s vital to learn to control our impulses and delay gratification to reap more valuable rewards in the future. For instance, by resisting the temptation of making impulsive purchases like a new pair of shoes or a fancy watch, you can channel your savings towards more significant goals like your dream home, starting a business, or an extended travel adventure.

Money Marshmallow is dedicated to assisting you in achieving your long-term goals while still enjoying life today. If you want to learn more about the Marshmallow Experiment and its link to personal finances, read my article The Marshmallow Test: 3 Science-Based Tips to Money Success.
